NHS England has issued guidance regarding the prescribing of oral semaglutide products. While both Rybelsus® and oral Wegovy® contain semaglutide, they are approved for different uses and should not be used interchangeably.
Rybelsus® is currently commissioned on the NHS only for the treatment of Type 2 Diabetes and should not be prescribed for weight loss. Oral Wegovy® has been licensed for weight management but is not routinely available on the NHS and is currently only accessible through private prescriptions, unless commissioned locally by an Integrated Care Board (ICB).
